Title:
Craft Ed - Craft Council of Ireland
Course Code:
Description:
The Crafts Council of Ireland's Primary Level Programme CRAFTed 2012 , in partnership with all 21 full time Education Centres, will be taking place in primary schools across the country during the Spring Term of 2012.
This initiative is a visual arts based educational programme, which places professional craftspeople working alongside teachers in primary schools.
CRAFTed focuses on integrated learning methodologies through the Visual Arts Curriculum, using a process-led methodology that focuses on the child's own creativity.
The key elements are:
Building skills through collaboratively based continuous professional development programmes for teachers and craftspeople
Delivering an active programme in schools, focusing on supporting integrated learning in the Visual Arts, (VA) and Social, Environmental and Scientific Education (SESE) curricula at primary level
Developing an integrated learning resource to support teachers, artists and craftspeople that will support a continuum of learning and skills acquisition in the future
The focus on collaborative training for teachers and craftspeople is key to the development of working partnerships between artists, craftspeople and primary school teachers.
The training for the programme provides:
Introductory information evenings for teachers wishing to learn more about the programme.
Child Protection training for all crafts people selected to take part in the programme.
One day training and collaborative planning time, for both teachers and craftspeople .
The core programme takes place in schools during the spring term over ten contact hours timetabled into sessions to suit both schools and craftspeople.
The Crafts Council of Ireland would like to invite you or a member of your staff to an information evening and give your school the opportunity to apply to be part of CRAFTed
