ICT and Language in the Primary School
Description:
This short course focuses on practical skills and ideas for using ICT in the teaching and learning of languages. The skills covered can be used in the teaching of Gaeilge, English, EAL and modern languages. It features various types of software/websites and their uses in the language lesson. Teachers are enabled to develop content and to show pupils how they can create their own content. The majority of the websites and software used are free to access and suit schools with varying ICT infrastructures, from one computer in the classroom to a suite of computers in the school. In addition, much of what is covered in the course can be used with interactive whiteboards. This course was developed by the Modern Languages in Primary Schools Initiative (MPLSI) and the NCTE.
Target Audience: All Primary teachers. The course is designed to suit teachers with varies levels of ICT skill levels, from the near novice (note prerequisites) to the experienced ICT user.
