Senior Cycle English Evening Workshop

 ‘Quarrelling with Reality: Exploring Texts Comparatively in Senior Cycle English’

 

Through demonstrating motivating and challenging methodologies, we hope to support Senior Cycle English teachers in developing students’ critical literacy skills through their engagement with the comparative study and poetry. We will explore the ways in which we can encourage Senior English students to interrogate and question comparative and poetry texts from a number of critical stances, and to compare and contrast texts.

Participants will:

  • discuss how to support students in further developing critical literacy skills using an integrated approach to language and texts
  • explore resources available to support them in teaching the comparing study and poetry
