Manual handling is a statutory requirement for all staff, under the Health, safety and
welfare at work Act 2005.
The course will cover the following topics: -
•Legislation-employer and employee responsibilities.
•The musculoskeletal system and how injuries occur.
•Risk assessment
•The principles of safe moving and handling with demonstration and practice of same.
•Posture and seating
•Working with children
• Equipment and its safe use.
• And any other relevant issues as raised by the group in attendance,
This programme will be delivered by a FETAC Level 6 and a HSE approved Manual Handling Advisor. The contents are fully in line with the teachings of the HSE.
