Playful approaches to teaching and learning have the potential to support all children achieving their potential. A growing body of research suggests that playful approaches are particularly important for children with diverse learning needs and interests. This webinar will explore the importance of play for children with special educational needs. It will explore the concept of inclusive play and consider strategies for supporting the play needs and interests of all children in the infant classroom.

Lisha O’Sullivan is Head of the Department of Reflective Pedagogy and Early Childhood Studies at Mary Immaculate College (MIC), Limerick. Lisha lectures in early childhood education at MIC and supervises students’ research at undergraduate, Master’s and PhD levels. A qualified Play Therapist, Lisha’s research interests include early years curriculum and pedagogy, the role of play in development and inclusive education.
