Formative Assessment using Digital Technologies Training - PDST TIE Post primary course - 20IT-SP01

Formative assessment is the process of seeking and interpreting evidence for use by learners and their teachers to decide where the learners are in their learning, where they need to go and how best to get there. The effective use of Digital Technologies can support teachers to gather and interpret information, provide timely feedback and adjust their instructional practice to help motivate students to practice learning goals as a natural and ongoing part of their daily workflow.

This workshop will:

  • Introduce teachers to ways in which Digital Technologies can be used to build interactive assignments and track student progress in real-time
  • Use digital tools to gather, interpret and use formative assessment information to inform learning and teaching
  • Introduce the potential of digital portfolios to facilitate self-generated content and as a reflective self-assessment tool for students.
  • Reflect on current assessment practice and identify how to incorporate the use of digital tools to support formative assessment.

Optional - Participants MAY bring their own device for this workshop.
