Tá Ionaid Tacaíochta Oideachais na hÉireann agus COGG ag obair as lámha a chéile agus cúrsa samhraidh nua nuálach a chruthú do mhúinteoirí bunscoile. Is do mhúinteoirí nach bhfuil líofa nó muiníneach as a bheith ag labhairt Gaeilge an cúrsa seo go háirithe. Is é sprioc an chúrsa seo tógáil ar fhéinmhuinín, ar líofacht agus ar thaitneamh i labhairt na Gaeilge. Beidh taisce acmhainní, smaointe teagaisc spraíúla agus gníomhaíochtaí do mhúinteoirí san áireamh chomh maith ionas go spreagfar múineadh na Gaeilge ina seomraí ranga.

The Education Support Centres of Ireland and COGG are collaborating to create a new innovative summer course for primary teachers. This course is specifically designed for teachers who are not fluent or confident in the speaking of Irish and aims to build confidence, fluency and enjoyment of the language. It also includes a bank of resources and enjoyable teaching ideas and activities for teachers to energise the teaching of Gaeilge in their classrooms. 

This is a face-to-face course in Carrick on Shannon Education Support Centre Monday, July 1^st – Friday, July 5^th for teachers who would like to spend time with the Irish language to improve their own confidence and competence in a positive and enjoyable atmosphere.

You will spend five days remembering just how much Irish you already know, learning and polishing your spoken Irish, and practicing your Gaeilge in a supportive and fun environment.

Each participant will receive a Resource Pack (free of charge) to bring back to school along with a wealth of teaching ideas and best practice exemplars to share with friends and colleagues!

The course is free of charge (€50 deposit to secure a place which will be refunded on competition of the course).

Facilitator - Karen Brogan has been designing, delivering and facilitating Literacy workshops, Summer In-service and Teacher Professional Communities, encompassing Gaeilge and all aspects of Literacy, in conjunction with Education Centres, for a number of years. Currently a mainstream class teacher in Kilglass NS, she has taught in a small school, multi-class setting, in Gaelsoileanna and has worked as a shared SET. Karen was seconded to PDST for 8 years as a Literacy and Gaeilge Advisor and is a First Steps Tutor in Reading, Writing and Speaking and Listening. She is passionate about Literacy and Language and providing practical approaches  for teachers in their classroom context.

Note: Closing date for registration on all courses is 3pm on Friday 21st June 2024.

Important Points to Note for Participants of our Face-to-Face Summer Courses 2024.

• All courses run from 9.30am-2.00pm every day.
• A minimum number of 10 participants is required in order for a course to proceed. Maximum capacity is 25 on face-to-face summer courses.
• Full attendance is required to be awarded 3 EPV days.
• 2 EPV days will be awarded for 4 days attendance.
• 1 EPV day will be awarded for 3 days attendance. (Regardless of the reason for the absence).
• No EPV days will be awarded for less than 3 days attendance.
• Lunch break is from 11.30-12.00 each day and a light lunch will be provided each day.

All our summer courses are booked on the condition that the course fee is non-refundable unless stated otherwise. Course Fees are not transferrable to another teacher. Unfortunately, if you wish to cancel your place on one of our courses or you are unable to attend the course, we are not in a position to refund fees unless stated otherwise. The course fee can only be refunded if the Education Centre cancels the course or is a free course and the deposit will be returned on completion of the full course.
