Autism Class Preparation Workshop (Facilitator Samantha Ryan) - 25LCAU70
Audience: Primary Principal's, Primary Teachers, Primary NQT's, Primary SNAs.
This workshop is most suited to management, teachers and SNAs who are setting up an Autism Class or who are moving into an Autism Class setting for the first time.
Bio - Samantha has been a primary school teacher for 17 years. In these years of teaching she has held the positions of Deputy Principal and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator. Samantha has also held the teaching roles of ASD Special Class Teacher, SET and Mainstream Teacher. Samantha had previously worked as an Advisor and Associate with the Special Education Support Service and the NCSE. During this time she delivered training and support to schools along with creating course content and resources for the service. In addition to her work with senconsultant.ie , Samantha works with Hibernia College as a School Placement Tutor, mentoring student teachers and grading teaching practice placements.
- Learning Outcome - Classroom Environment: exploration of possible layouts, structures and base routines for the classroom.
- Learning Outcome 2 - The Use of Visuals: For classroom routines, personal organisation, for supporting behaviour and supporting the development of social skills (visual aids inventory provided).
- Learning Outcome 3 - IEPS / SSPs : writing SMART targets, examples of targets and target writing support tools.
- Learning Outcome 4 - Short -Term Planning: Fortnightly planning and Monthly Progress Reports (templates provided).
