Embedded computing technologies, such as smart phones and wearable technology, are becoming ubiquitous, readily available, cheap and easily modified for a variety of applications. This courses introduces a number of such technologies that provide practical introductory examples to assist students in in developing their computational thinking and 21st century skills such as problem solving, creativity and innovation.
During this course participants will be introduced to Bluebots, Sphero and Edison robots. These can be used in a variety of class settings for exploring or developing coding and computational thinking to support teaching, learning and assessment.
In this course, participants will be enabled to:
- Recognise to the relevancy of inputs and outputs as they relate to computing and computers that are becoming pervasive in everyday life.
- To develop students’ skills and capabilities in using current and emerging embedded systems for teaching and learning.
- Introduce pupils to computational thinking and coding activities.
- Identify methods of using coding tools to develop problem solving skills.
- Explore how computational thinking activities can be incorporated into any subject area.
