Are you new to Special Education Teaching (SET) or do you work as a Special Education Teacher (SET)?
If so, then come along to the SET Support Meeting. Join us for discussion and sharing of ideas on Special Education Teaching.
Topics:
- Circular 64/2024 “The operation/application and deployment of Special Education Teacher resources” and the supporting document “Guidelines for Primary Schools - Supporting Children with Special Educational Needs in Mainstream Classes”
- Dyslexia Ireland’s publication “What to look for when selecting interventions for dyslexic learners”
In this session we will review Circular 64/2024 and the document “Guidelines for Primary Schools - Supporting Children with Special Educational Needs in Mainstream Classes”. We will discuss the implications of these documents in relation to the planning and implementation of Special Education Teaching in mainstream settings.
We will also look at the recent publication from Dyslexia Ireland entitled “What to look for when selecting interventions for dyslexic learners”. This guidance looks at core features of literacy programmes and divides them into three categories: “must have”, “nice to have” and “red flags”. We will discuss how this guidance can help us to select the most appropriate interventions for dyslexic learners.
