Mastering the Comparative Section - 25LCAU57 (Elaine McGowan & Ann Marie Garvey)

Overview

Chapter & Verse – opening the classroom door to share practice. Professional courses for teachers of English designed by Elaine McGowan and Ann Marie Garvey.

Join us for an engaging and insightful webinar designed specifically for post-primary teachers of Leaving Cert English. This session will explore the Comparative section of the exam through three compelling texts: Small Things Like These (novel), Barbie (film), and Girl on an Altar (play).

Learning Outcomes

Through the lenses of Literary Genre and Cultural Context, we will examine the story-telling techniques found in common across the texts and the stylistic features which tell a tale distinctly based on their genre; whilst examining how these works speak to their time, place, and form offering rich material for students to analyse and compare. Whether you're looking for fresh perspectives or practical strategies for teaching these texts, this webinar will provide valuable insights and discussion points to bring into your classroom.
