The Coleraine University Controversy and the Welfare State in Northern Ireland - 25LCAU58 (Patrick Hickey)

The Coleraine University Controversy and the Welfare State in Northern Ireland - 25LCAU58 (Patrick Hickey)

Teaching Focus

This session addresses how Coleraine became a focal point of political and social grievance in Northern Ireland and how to connect it meaningfully to state policy and inequality.

Exam Insights

The controversy now appears less as a stand-alone topic and more often as part of combination-style questions on welfare, discrimination, and the start of the Troubles.  This session will help you structure lessons so students understand context, cause, and consequence of the Case Study.

Resources

Gain access to timelines, key sources, and approaches that help students see the bigger picture which is so vital now in the LC History Exam.

Delivered by Patrick Hickey, better known as @lchistorytutor. His resources and insights are used by teachers and students nationwide to raise standards and deepen historical understanding.

Book online at www.carrickedcentre.ie and a webinar link will be emailed to you on the morning of the webinar. Please check your SPAM folder if you do not receive the link in your inbox.
